Organizing and Prioritizing

Hello friends, thank you so much for taking the time to read this.  I wanted to let you know that I have taken the month of January to re-organize, catch up and prioritize my business.  As most of you know I have a little girl who I can't believe is almost 2 years old in March.  When I had her I decided to be a stay at home mom and start my own photography business.

The first few months I thought...wow this is a breeze I can just plop her up here on the couch edit and what I need to do while she sits there so quietly :)  LOL...well folks that really didn't last too long.  I do have my awesome mother who helps me and also a wonderful babysitter so usually 2 days a week I do have help however, I had no idea how much is wrapped up in owning your own business...not to mention that my hubby has a concrete business and right now your truly is is doing the paperwork so needless to say I needed a little prioritizing!

As some of you know there are so many different hats you must wear that I am going to need to take a break from blogging. I do love to blog but it does take a significat amount of time and need to really put my focus in other areas.  Also with the new facebook changes and other cool online networking sites I will be able to post my pictures in other creative ways.  So for now I will putting the blogging on hold but will probably start back next year or even possible later this year.  Thank you so much for your support and please come on over to facebook if you are not a fan already!  I would love to share my photos with you there:)   http://www.facebook.com/kathlynparrottphotography

Be blessed friends :)  and remember...if you have too much on your plate, just take some off! :)

Discovering... then making it happen!

Discovering =  to see, find, or find out; gain sight or knowledge.

Lydia discovers her shadow for the first time..I am grateful that I could make this picture possible for her thinking someday she will look at it and smile. :)

In 2008 I made the DISCOVERY after what felt like making a total fool out of myself trying to once and for all find that one thing I could do as a career.  I discoverd that my love for photography was something that was starring me in the face, and it wasn't going anywhere!   I had thought about being a "photographer" for years (even while in Nashville pursuing music...pla!)  but I listened to negative voices "its too hard"  "You will never learn all those buttons" "people won't take you serious"...you have already tried too many things" oh yeah and "as if this town needs another photographer" ....and well...what if you fail "again"  :/
I really could go on, but I will spare you a little .')

I was chatting with a friend one day I voiced all of this stuff  basically regurgitating all of my doubts (another amazing talent I have :p) and in short,  these words came out of her mouth that gave me a little nudge "don't make excuses ... MAKE IT HAPPEN"  that was in 07...and although it would be 2 years before I would be able to start this journey there was not a day that went by that I didn't think about those words.  "don't make excuses ... make it happen!!  Well duh... but just hearing it helped me somehow it gave me gUsto to go for it!   I knew I was in for a lot of late nights, and (blood sweat and tears...lots of tears!!)  but I also knew that I had discovered something that God had put inside of me...I am a visual person and I should rock that to the best of my ability!!  So that is what I am trying to do.  I by NO means have all the answers when it comes to taking pictures.  I am continuously challenged and often get super frustrated when learning something new but I am so thankful for finally discovering this about myself...

My prayer for my daughter Lydia is that someday she discovers the gifts that God has put inside of her...(hopefully much sooner than I did)  and I hope when she discovers them she has the same expression on her face as she does in the picture above... love .')

Happy Discovering! :)

reeted by the russling of leaves, cool crisp air and hundreds of bright golden trees about a 100 guest gathered beneath a perfectly blue sky to witness a beautiful ceremony on what couldn't have been a more glorious day.  I was swooning over every detail.

Louisville Family Photographer: The Perry Family

M
eet the Perry family, these folks are super special because the mom is this picture happen to grow up with my hubby..(they are cousins) awwwww.... In fact I really enjoyed getting to know them a little better  especially getting a little dirt on Chad from when they were kids apparently he was quite a character and those in his family know what I mean... .')
So typically I meet people at different places around town like a park, farm or favorite hang out spot but every now and then a client will ask me if I can come to thier home. I find that when I do they are the most comfortable and I can usually capture the best shots....thats what we did here :)

It was so fun shooting with you guys, we love your family!!  See you again soon  .')

I love these next 2 pictures, I think they look like 2 little English boys .')
